They’re talented. They’re bright. They’re beautiful. And yes, they’re identical! Meet Aleksandra, Izabela, and Monika Okapiec, known professionally as ALIZMA. The 23-year-old triplets were born in Poland but are polishing their remarkable skills in America.More than just three pretty faces, Aleksandra, Izabela and Monika all recently earned Masters Degrees in Violin Performance, but also specialize in voice and other string instruments, performing their own music along with classical and modern arrangements on stage and screen. The sisters were introduced to the world of music by their mother Halina, a Kindergarten teacher who taught the girls songs before they could walk, leading to their first public performance at age three. By the time they were 6, the young prodigies were playing violin, and ten years later, at age 16, they were performing on Polish national television, featured on such shows as “Shansa na Sukces”, “Na Kazdy Temat”, “Piknik Country”, “Super Express” and “Kurier News”, then took their act to Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom Still, their biggest break was Red, White, and Blue. At 15, the girls spent a year as exchange students in the United States, living with separate host families in Wilmington, DE, Rochester, NY, and Dallas, TX. They went home to Poland, but not for long. They were so enamored with America they convinced their parents to let them come back, spending their Senior Year at Mount Pleasant High School in Wilmington, Delaware, honing …

www.stride4autism.com One Family’s struggle to get help for their Autistic son…in the face of insurance companies denial to cover him. This is a story about how our Health Insurance Company refuses to pay for any treatment for our child’s Autism, though through the Trailer Preview it is hard to tell where the story is going…it is about Health Insurance Reform….the quotes made in this are the expressions we as a family first felt when our son was diagnosed in 2006, IT IS NOT HOW WE FEEL NOW. Our son has made tremendous strides all the fears we first had, “he’ll never get married, never drive” etc…. were from the first day we were given the diagnosis these were just thoughts I had in my head at first, they quickly diminished. The next day after the diagnosis we said we were going to do whatever it took to try and make a difference. We have worked very hard and had to fight to get any type of therapy for our son, thousands of people across the US are facing the same dilemma that their Health Insurance Companies will not pay for autism. It is heartbreaking and unbelievable at the same time. If you have a question ask us, do not assume. We have had a few nasty comments that I have no idea where they came up with some of the things they said. We spend countless hours in therapy for our son, teaching him at home, making sure he gets the schooling he needs, giving vitamin supplements and special dieting for him, we have researched beyond research and the more we read the …

Superstar Nicki Minaj surprised more than 400 students and acted as the “Principal for the Day” at Collins Academy High School. Minaj’s visit is one of many rewards for the students and teachers who won the Get MotivatED Challenge — a six week competition to improve daily attendance rates nationwide. Minaj presented three exemplary students each with $10000 college scholarships from Comcast, helped teach a freshman English class, and joined MTV’s Sway Calloway in an all-school assembly to celebrate the students’ and teachers’ accomplishments. Students saw the performer’s serious side as she took over the class and led a lesson in English. Minaj’s own education, she’s a graduate of LaGuardia High School in New York City, influenced not just her career path but also her commitment to giving back. Nicki Minaj said, “I am a young, female mogul before I am an artist. As a business woman there isn’t a single day where I don’t use my education or acquire new knowledge to ensure my success. Regardless of where you are today, with education you can take yourself where you want to be. That’s why I am working with the Get Schooled Foundation. They are finding innovative and exciting ways to bring that message to schools like the Collins Academy.” Studies show that rate of attendance is one of the most significant predictors of dropping out. Students with more than 20 absences in any given year have only a 19 percent likelihood of graduating. According to the 2010 Diploma Counts …

Islamabad: Reminding the prime minister of his commitment he made with the vice chancellors of the public sector universities last month, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has requested him to reconsider the allocation for education sector in the annual budget. HEC Chairman Javaid H. Laghari has written a letter to Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani requesting him to reconsider allocation of budget to the education sector in line with the commitment he made with vice chancellors of the public sector universities last month. According to the sources in HEC, the chairman expressed his grave concern over the minimal budget allocation for the education sector stating that any roll back would severely affect the growth that HEC has made over the last eight years. A number of parliamentarians have also strongly objected in their budgetary speeches to this cut. A total of Rs15.762 billion PSDP budget for 2010-11 has been proposed for the HEC, which is Rs7 billion less than the last year’s approved budget of Rs22.5 billion. According to the information, HEC had demanded 30 per cent increase in the current budget for the upcoming budget for the year 2010-2011, but it received a negative response. The development budget for the fiscal year 2009-2010 was Rs22.5 billion in which the cabinet cut down Rs4 billion leaving 18.5 billion with the HEC to continue its various projects. Sources in the HEC said that currently there are over 9000 students on various HEC scholarships and …

This video is an introduction to the choristers at St Mary’s Music School and the choir of St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland. We see the young choristers and organists as they prepare in June, 2006, for recording sessions for the Pro Organo CD “Hear My Words, Ye People.” The Choir of St Mary’s Cathedral (Mother Church of the Diocese of Edinburgh in the Scottish Episcopal Church) has been described by the Sunday Times as “one of the UK’s finest cathedral choirs.” It is unique in Scotland in maintaining a tradition of daily Anglican choral services. The choristers are educated at St Mary’s Music School, Scotland’s only specialist music school, which is also the choir school for the cathedral. St Mary’s Cathedral became the first in the UK to offer girls scholarships to sing as trebles in 1978, and in 2006, became possibly the first British daily choral foundation to offer alto Choral Scholarships and Lay Clerk positions to women as well as men. St Mary’s Cathedral website is: www.cathedral.net . St Mary’s Music School website is: www.st-marys-music-school.co.uk The choir is led in this video by Simon Nieminski www.nieminski.com , who at the time this video and CD were recorded, was Organist and Master of the Music. Mr Nieminski is still active in Edinburgh, but now concentrates upon his work as both a liturgical and concert organist. His new post is that of organist at St Mary’s RC Cathedral in Edinburgh. Also seen in this video is a principal of St …
